The Child and Adult Care Food Program

 

Who can qualify for The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)?

1. Home child care providers who are licensed as a family or group child care home.
or
2. Exempt providers who care for up to 2 children and are exempt from licensing, but care for at least 1 DFS authorized child.

What are the CACFP Requirements?

The CACFP reimburses qualified child care providers for two meals and one snack, or two snacks and one meal, per day per child. A typical meal pattern includes:

BREAKFAST:
Milk
Juice / fruit
Bread / cereal

LUNCH / SUPPER:
Meat or meat alternate
2 Fruits and / or vegetables
Bread or bread alternate
Milk

SNACK:
2 of the following 4 food groups
Meat
Fruit / Vegetables
Bread
Milk

Providers must maintain daily records of:
1. What you served to the children.
2. The number and type of meals served.
3. Your daily attendance.

Serve six children breakfast, lunch, and a snack for 5 days a week for a month and receive approximately $350 - $375 a month.
